There are 2 levels of Exam in PRINCE2 in order to be a PRINCE2 Practitioner:

 

PRINCE2 Foundation Exam 

The Foundation is the first of the two PRINCE2 Exams you are required to pass to become a PRINCE2 Practitioner. 

At this level, candidates should have fundamental knowledge about PRINCE2 and able to demonstrate the following:
 
bulletDescribe the purpose and major content of all roles, the eight components, the eight processes and the sub-processes, and the techniques.
bulletState which management products are input to, and output from the eight processes.
bulletState the main purpose, and key contents, of the major management products.
bulletState the relationships between processes, deliverables, roles and the management dimensions of a project.

PRINCE2 Practitioner Exam

The Practitioner is the second of the two PRINCE2 Exams for candidates who are required to pass to become a PRINCE2 Practitioner.

At this level, the candidates should have acquired the knowledge of PRINCE2 in Foundation exam and gathered enough experience to apply PRINCE2 competently. They should able to perform the following:
 
bulletProduce detailed explanations of all processes, components and techniques, and worked examples of all PRINCE2 products as they might be applied to address the particular circumstances of a given project scenario.
bulletShow they understand the relationships between processes, components, techniques and PRINCE2 products and can apply this understanding.
bulletDemonstrate that they understand the reasons behind the processes, components and techniques of PRINCE2, and that they understand the principles underpinning these elements.
bulletDemonstrate their ability to tune PRINCE2 to different project circumstances.

Format

9 questions, with a scenario background and appendices.
bulletEach of the 9 questions is worth 40 marks.
bullet
An overall score of 180 out of a possible 360 is required to pass.
bulletThree hour duration
bulletOpen-book examination (only PRINCE2 manual is allowed)
