PMI / PMBOK Definition:

PMO: An organizational body or entity assigned various responsibilities related to the centralized and coordinated management of those projects under its domain. The responsibilities of a PMO can range from providing project management support functions to actually being responsible for the direct management of a project.


Certification: No specific PMO certification. Other related certifications are CAPM, PMP, PgMP, OPM3.

OGC/ APMG / PRINCE2 Definition:

Project Office: A temporary office set up to support the delivery of a specific change initiative being delivered as project. If used, the project office undertakes the responsibility of the Project Support role.
