Bible Versions
There are many different versions of English translation bible.
Some are translated from ancient Hebrew and Greek.
Some versions are using Word for Word translation method and some are using
Thought for Thought translation method.
It will be good to own one version from each categories. However, it is more
important to own a bible that you are going to read it.
Let's look at Genesis 1:1
and Luke 1:26-35 and see how different versions
of bibles
translated
into modern English.

And in the sixth
month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into
a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was
Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's
name was Mary.
And the angel being come in, said unto
her:
Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women.
Who having heard, was troubled at his saying,
and thought with herself what manner of
salutation this should be.
And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for
thou hast found grace with God.
Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and
shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his
name Jesus.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son
of the most High; and the Lord God shall give
unto him the throne of David his father; and he
shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.
And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
And Mary said to the angel:
How shall this be done, because I know not man?
And the angel
answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall
come upon thee, and the power of the most High
shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the
Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called
the Son of God.
And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath
conceived a son in her old age; and this is the
sixth month with her that is called barren:
Because no
word shall be impossible with God.
And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord;
be it done to me according to thy word.
And the angel departed from her. |
In the sixth
month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a
town in Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was
Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's
name
was Mary.
And he came to her and said, 'Greetings, favoured one! The
Lord is with you.
But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what
sort of greeting this might be.
The angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favour with God.
And now, you
will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and
you will name him Jesus.
He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most
High, and the Lord God will give to him the
throne of his ancestor David.
He will reign over the house of Jacob for ever,
and of his kingdom there will be no end.
The angel said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow
you; therefore the child to be born
will be holy; he will be called Son of God.
And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age
has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth
month for her who was said to be barren.
For nothing will be impossible with God.'
Then Mary said, 'Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be
with me according to your word.'
Then the angel
departed from her.

And the angel answered and said unto her, The
Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power

And,
behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath
also conceived a son in her old age: and
this is the sixth month with her, who

Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son

Genesis 1:1 |

In the beginning, when God created the

Luke 1:26-35 |
Luke 1:26-35 |
In the sixth
month of Elizabeth's pregnancy God sent the
angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee name
Nazareth. He had a message for a young woman
promised in marriage to a man named Joseph, who
was a descendant of King David. Her name was
Mary. The angel came to her and said, Peace be
with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly
blessed you!
Mary was deeply troubled by
the angel's message, and she wondered what his
words meant.
The angel said to her, "Don't be afraid, Mary;
God has been gracious to you. You will become
pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will
name him Jesus. He will be great and will be
called the Son of the Most High God. The
Lord God will make him a king, as his ancestor
David was, and he will be the king of the
descendants of Jacob forever; his kingdom will
never end!;
Mary said
to the angel, I am a virgin. How, then, can
this be?
The angel
answered, The Holy Spirit will come on you, and
God's power will rest upon you. For this
reason the holy child will be called the Son of;
God. Remember your relative Elizabeth. It is
said that she cannot have children, but
she herself is now six months pregnant, even
though she is very old. For there is nothing
that God cannot do.
I am the
Lord's servant, said Mary; may it happen to me
as you have said. And the angel left her. |
In the sixth
month of Elizabeths pregnancy, God sent the
angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee,
to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be
married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of
King David.
Gabriel appeared to her and said,
"Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with
you."
Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what
the angel could mean.
Dont be afraid, Mary," the angel told
her, for you have found favor with God!
You will conceive and give birth to a
son, and you will name him Jesus.
He will be very great and will be called
the Son of the Most High. The Lord God
will give him the throne of his ancestor
David. And he will reign over
Israel forever; his Kingdom will never
end!"
Mary asked the angel, "But how can this
happen? I am a virgin.
The angel replied, "The Holy Spirit will
come upon you, and the power of the Most
High will overshadow you. So the baby to
be born will be holy, and he will be
called the Son of God. What is more, your relative Elizabeth has become
pregnant in her old age! People used to
say she was barren, but she is now in her
sixth month. For nothing is
impossible with God.
Mary
responded, "I am the Lords servant. May
everything you have said about me come
true." And then the angel left her.
