Catholic Prayers

The Sign of the CrossIn the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Our FatherOur Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Apostles’ CreedI believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
on the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Glory Be to the FatherGlory Be to the Father,
And to the Son
And to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning
Is now, and ever shall be;
World without end.
Amen.
Hail MaryHail, Mary, full of grace
the Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is thy fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Fatima PrayerO my Jesus, forgive us of our sins. Save us from the fires of hell,
and bring all souls to heaven,
especially those most in need of your mercy. Amen.
Grace Before MealsBless Us O Lord,
for these thy gifts
which we are about to receive
from Thy bounty;
Through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
Grace After MealsWe give You thanks, Almighty God,
for these and all your blessings;
As you live and reign
For ever and ever.
Amen.
Come Holy SpiritCome, Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit,
and they shall be created;
And You will renew the face of the earth.
O God, on the first Pentecost
You instructed the hearts of those who believed in You
by the light of the Holy Spirit;
Under the inspiration of the same Spirit,
give us a taste for what is right and true
and a continuing sense of His presence and power;
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
PRAYERS OF LIBERATION FROM
THE SPIRIT OF EVIL
To our Lord Jesus
O Jesus our Saviour,
My Lord and my God,
My God and my all,
With your sacrifice of the Cross you redeemed us
And defeated the power of Satan.
I beg ou to deliver me from every evil presence
And every evil influence.
I ask you in your name,
I ask you for the sake of your wounds,
I ask you for the sake of your bloods,
I ask you for the sake of your Cross,
I ask you through the intercession of Mary,
Immaculate and sorrowful.
May the blood and the water that flow
From your side
Wash over me to purify me,
Deliver me, heal me. Amen.
To Mary
O Most High Queen of Heaven
And of the Angels,
We humbly beseech you,
Who received from God
The power and the mission
To crush Satan’s head:
Command the heavenly host
To pursue the demons in battle wherever they are,
To rebuke their daring,
And to thrust them into the abyss. Amen.
Prayer to Saint Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protector against
the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about
the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen
DIVINE MERCY Chaplet using Rosary

Begin with the Sign of the Cross,

Our Father (one time),
Hail Mary (one time)
The Apostles Creed (one time).
Then on the Our Father Beads say the following:

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ,
 in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
On the 10 Hail Mary Beads say the following:

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

(Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades).

Conclude with (three times):
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.
In 1933, God gave Saint Faustina (Helen Kowalska) a striking vision of His Mercy,
Saint Faustina tells us: “I saw a great light, with God the Father in the midst of it.
Between this light and the earth I saw Jesus nailed to the Cross and
in such a way that God, wanting to look upon the earth, had to look through
Our Lord’s wounds and I understood that God blessed the earth
for the sake of Jesus.”
Sacrament of Reconciliation

Examine Your Conscience (Make a Checklist)
Sincerely sorry for your sins
Confess your sins to the priest
Do something about your sins (prayers, penance etc.)

1. Introduction.
When you come before the priest, begin by

making
the Sign of the Cross and say
“In the name of the Father, and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Continue to say:

Bless me, Father, I have sinned. It has been
(how long) since my last confession.

 These are my sins…

2. Confession.
List the sins
you have committed by recalling the checklist in your mind.
Say it clearly to the priest.

3. Penance.
The priest will talk to you and advise you how to avoid the sins in future suggest.
He will suggest to you to do
something usually a prayer or rosary.

You will have to remember what this is and do it immediately after
the confession is over.

4. Contrition.
The priest will then ask you to pray your
Act of Contrition, demonstrating your sorrow for your sins.
Here are two examples (choose the one that suits you best) :
ACT OF CONTRITION

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against You whom I should love
above all things. I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance, to sin no more, and
to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Saviour Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.

OR:
O my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended you and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell;
but most of all because they offend you, my God,
who are all good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve with the help of your grace,
to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
A shorter version (useful for children)
O My God, I am very sorry that I have sinned against you,
Because you are so good and with your help. I will try not to sin again. Amen.

5. Absolution.
Don’t leave after saying that prayer,
the priest will extend his hands over you and he will pray the Prayer of Absolution:
God, the Father of Mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son,
has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us
for the forgiveness of sins. Through the ministry of the Church,
may God grant you pardon and peace. And I absolve you from
your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

You respond: Amen.

6. Conclusion.
The priest will then likely say something like,
     God has freed you from your sin. Go in Peace.
You respond: Amen.
You may thanks the priest before you leave.
7. Do your Penance

Don’t forget to
do your penance.

If the priest ask you to say certain prayers,
it is best to do it right away in the church.
If you are required to pray a rosary, find a quiet place and quite time to do it.
